Manic Panic Semi-permanent Hair Dye

Tish & Snooky’s NYC Inc. Manic Panic Hair Dye Cream Formula are in the Classic 4oz Tub (price $10.50). “Live fast and dye your hair”

Directions for use: wash hair with a “pH Acid Balanced” shampoo and towel dry hair. apply the dye with a tint brush (or a paint brush, that is what I used). be sure to to keep away for the scalp ( about 1/2″). apply until hair is saturated. take a comb you do care about and comb your hair until the dye gets frothy. Leave it in for at least 5 minutes. the bottle says the maximum time should be 15 minutes.
Dye Color Tiger Lily: The bottle says it works best on pre-lightened hair, but I did not pre-lighten my hair since it is blonde color naturally. I even left it in a longer than the max of 15 minutes. After I rinsed it out and let my hair dye I could see that the color did not take at all. I also tried it on a friends hair and she has ‘light blonde’, but the results were the same. I think I did not have the right pH shampoo.
Dye Color AfterMidnight Blue: The Manic Panic website says this color is their most famous and comes in all the hair color formulas: Classic cream, Amplified cream, and Gels. I loved the way this color came out. because I did not bleach my hair first it was darker than then how it looks in the bottle. To me that made it better. when I was in dim lit room my hair looks blue-black, but when the light was behind me you you see the blue really good. The only thing that is somewhat bad is when is fades out it turns green. just shampoo the heck out of your hair when it starts turning green.
Dye Color Mystic Heather: I had the same problem with this color as I did with the Tiger Lily. It just did not want to take. I tried this color on my friend as well, and it did not work on her either.
Bottom line, if you are want a light color you have to pre-lighten your hair. Watch out for bleeding, especially after you’ve shampooed it. Use towels that you are okay with getting dye on. at least the bleeding stops after a few days.
I plan on trying the other formulas (Amplified Cream, and Gel). This is a fun product that I plan on using again and again.
